Perhaps best known for the interchange on the Northern Line, if you explore more of Kennington you will find a number of hidden treasures. Our Tramble loop from Kennington to Cleaver Square, a few minutes away from the underground, takes in the best of the area.
kennington park and gardens
We have been to Kennington Park many times and never found it to be too busy, even when the sunshine is beating down and Londoners are looking for any patch of grass available.
The Oval Farmers Market
City and Country put on a Farmers Market most Saturdays from 10am until 3pm at St. Marks Church opposite the Oval Tube. It is the perfect setting for lunch and great if you like to buy local produce. We recommend the biltong.
The Oval Cricket Ground
The Oval cricket ground houses Surrey County Cricket Club and several England fixtures throughout the summer. Our Tramble takes you round the outside where there is an opportunity to peer onto the grass.
petanque at cleaver sqaure
Once dubbed the trendiest game in London by fashion designers and luxury brands, petanque and boules can be played in Kennington's picturesque Cleaver Square. With the Prince of Wales pub on the corner, grab a drink, hire a set and head out to the court for a game.
That is it for our whistlestop tour of peaceful Kennington. Hope for sun and head out this weekend.
