We know that entertaining the kids at home is challenging! During the week there may well be after school activities and homework, but at weekends and during the holidays it is even more difficult to keep them busy with things to do.
This is the first of our ‘things to do with the kids at home’ series focusing on everyday items and easy activities that you can do yourselves at home. Hopefully you’ll have most of the ingredients to make these bouncy balls without even leaving the house!
1 > Fill one of the balloons with water until it fits neatly in the palm of your hand.
2 > Stand over the sink and pinch the neck of the balloon before tying a knot. You have to make sure there isn’t any air in the balloon before you tie…
3 > Take the scissors and trim the neck of the balloon.
4 > Cut the neck off the rest of your balloons… yes, all of them!
5 > Stretch each balloon and put the water filled balloon inside. Yes, swallow it up! Then stretch out what is left of the neck and cut it so that where it snaps back there is no neck left. You may need help with this… this is where the four hands come in!
6 > Repeat this process, again and again, until you have made at least 15 layers. For a really bouncy ball use 30 layers!!
7 > To ensure an even shape, turn the ball each time you wrap a new balloon around it!
